This cozy cabin restaurant is famous for pastries and pancakes, or try the Fireside Crepes, an all time favorite.

If you're looking for a restaurant in the twenty dollar an entree range, try Cottonwood in Truckee, the menu includes everything from buttermilk battered buffalo wings to braised free range rabbit cassoulet. This joint is ideal for the family. The building housing the restaurant, featuring live music on the weekends, is actually one of the nation's oldest ski lodges and itself a museum.

One upscale restaurant, Wild Goose, located on the North Shore, offers some of the most exciting, simple contemporary American cuisine on the lake. Besides amazing views of the blue lake and mountain ranges, the menu features eclectic dishes like seared foie gras sprinkled with a sherry duck gastrique or sake glazed mero with a miso broth.

If the stunning menu isn't enough of an attraction, you can feel good about eating in this restaurant because the redesign was undertaken with the environment in mind. In fact, part of the insulation for the restaurant is actually recycled blue jeans and a few of the walls are coated with recycled milk jugs.
