A number of areas offer ice skating and tubing and sledding. Catch a ride with a pack of dogs and feel the rush on the back of a dog sled, or for more speed, check out the snowmobiling options. Of course, hundreds of miles of hiking trails dot the woods and countryside, perfect for hiking or snowshoeing during your Lake Tahoe vacation.
The spring, summer, and autumn months present even more options for the outdoor lover. Hike, mountain bike and horseback ride for miles in the mountain forests of Sierra Juniper and Sugar Pine and through the mountain valleys of wild yellow buttercups.
The lake and surrounding rivers and streams draws fishing enthusiasts from all over the country who want a chance to catch a 10 pound Mackinaw and fly fish for rainbow, brook, and brown trout. On the lake, water ski, sail, jet ski, kayak, and wind sail. A number of golf courses surround the lake with stunning backdrops of lake and mountain.
Casinos provide the nightlife on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, but nature calls to those who listen to the trees, mountains and magical lake. The raw beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin attracts most visitors.
