Townsend Tennessee is kind of know as the "other" town near the Smoky Mountain National Park.
What's nice about Townsend is that it is smaller and less crowded than the two main towns, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, that service the National Park.
What that means is that you can get around town without any traffic and congestion problems. Even when it's the top tourist season and the National Park has its most visitors.
Townsend Tennessee has an abundance of outdoor activities, cabins, craft shops, and seasonal festivals. Townsend provides a superb vacation getaway or a great spot for a retirement home.
Townsend is also the closest town to the biggest attraction in the Smoky Mountains National Park. That's right, even though Townsend isn't the largest town near the National Park, it's the closest to Cades Cove. And I know you will enjoy the convenient access to Cades Cove
If you stay in a nice cabin in Townsend then Cades Cove is only a 15 minute drive away.
There are literally thousands of mountain cabin rentals in and around the Townsend area. And the nice thing that we like about staying in Townsend is that you can usually find a more secluded cabin which can be a bit hard in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge.
