The beautiful state of Vermont is most famously know for its incredible fall colors, for its farming, especially dairy farming, and for what else? You guessed it, Vermont maple syrup!

Vermont has more than 6,000 farms that produce everything from milk, to cheese, to eggs, to all kinds of vegetables.

But dairy, by far, is the biggest farming industry in Vermont with more than 2 billion pounds of milk produced annually.

Recreation and tourism are probably the biggest of all industries in Vermont, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding activities to partake in during your vacation.

There are many exciting opportunities in Vermont State Parks for you and your family to have a spectacular vacation. Exploring and experiencing all Vermont has to offer can start with choosing many activities that you can do as a family. Activities include hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, motor boating, horseback riding, and exploring Vermont's historical sites.

State Parks like Smugglers’ Notch and Coolidge offer access to Long Trail, the Nations first long distance hiking trail. Hikes for every taste can be found in Groton State Forest (New Discovery, Stillwater, and Big Deer State Parks). If you would rather meander through a quaint village full of local artisans, Quechee State Park can give you access to more than you've dreamed of.

Your recreational opportunities completely change when the snow falls in Vermont. All State Parks are open and available for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and lots of other winter fun. In fact, two fantastic winter parks are in full swing. The Stone Hut on the top of Mt. Mansfield and Seyon Ranch in Groton are surrounded by the perfect environment for all your winter adventures.

Probably the most spectacular and popular event in Vermont is seeing the fall colors. The incredible Vermont colors usually peak sometime around the first to second week in October but can be as much as two weeks earlier or later. You will want to call the US Forest Service Eastern Fall Color Report at 1-800-354-4595 to get specific up to date information as the season progresses.
